Picture21 Dimsdale Street Hertford.
Hertford Paintings
I
n the 1980s John moved from Tottenham to Hertford and at 21 Dimsdale Street, Hertford
he created his studio and a gallery in a barn adjacent to his house.

Whilst in Hertford he produced many paintings of the area.
The pen & ink drawing of his house and gallery was drawn by John and used in a card noting his new location.  As well as providing a display area for paintings the gallery was made available to his friends and  activities such as a medevil dinner were held there.

Folly Beane River View Hertford  by  John Godden

PictureFolly Hertford in Grounds of Beane River View by John Godden

Folly in the grounds of Beane River View. Listed 9 Sept 1996  Grade ll 1268777.
The five acre garden at 2 North Road was acquired by Thomas Smith in 1840 and the ornamental ruin or folly was erected around 1848 in the grounds of
5 acres of ornamental garden. The three storey circular tower built of yellow stock brick and stone has a machicolated, external staircase and buttresses to suggest ruined walls.

This is one of at least three very similar paintings by John who often returned to view the folly.
