All Hallows in Church Lane Tottenham by William Butterfield 1814-1900 was close to the Tottenham home of Godden. Butterfield also designed Keble College but the gothic revival All Saints in Margaret Street was his favourite Butterfield church.

An image  of Tottenham High Road a few hundred metres from Johns house at Hampden Lane. On the right the clock of the former Whitbread bell brewery, with supporters on top awaiting the open top bus with the players.
